Installing a deck can take anything between a couple of days and a couple of weeks depending upon size and design.
Planning permission is not generally required for a deck unless it will effect neighbours or is in part of a conservation area or a listed building. If you are unsure it is always a good move to check with your local authority's building control department.
Today's timber decks are constructed of pressure treated softwoods and/or natural hardwoods, all have a very high resistance to rot and decay. These treatments mean that the timbers last for over 30 years, and treated correctly will last for many more.
It is advisable to periodically clean and inspect the deck and apply a protective breathable barrier every year, this will ensure the life expectancy, these can be applied either by spraying or a roller.
Depending on the timber you choose, the maintenance may vary slightly, and we will advise you according to your specific deck prior to installation.
